Inspiration

What a whirlwind year it has been so far - more on that later, but now I wanted to talk about Mantras - words or phrases that sum us up, inspire us and help us to achieve.

One of my good friends uses the number 4 - it is her lucky number and sums up her life experiences. I collect quotes and draw my inspiration from them - my mantra at the moment is:

Dream six impossible things before breakfast - from Through the Looking Glass.

I believe that anyone can do anything if they want it enough and I have well and truly proved that over this past year.

Some of my other favourite quotes are:

To see the world in a grain of sand,
and heaven in a wildflower,
to hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
and eternity in an hour.
- William Blake

Happiness is not the pursuit of perfection, but the pursuit of imperfections - a wise friend

Since then I am because you are,
Since then you are,
I am, we are, and through love will be,
you will be, we will be.
- Anonymous

Do you have any sayings or mantras or even an image that sums you up?

Dreaming of a bright summer

With the weather starting to warm up, lately I haven't been able to stop thinking about the amazing summer to come...

I can't wait to hang out on our 150 acres of Aussie Bush, lazing about in our swimming hole/creek, cooking a BBQ and settling in to watch an outdoor movie with a few of my favourite mates... simply heavenly.

Of course their is a lot more to do to make our place habitable but we will get there in the end... in the meantime check out some of these dreamy images from a quaint little blog I stumbled across yesterday. Orange Juice. I hope my summer is exactly like this!

Tunes & beats

I am totally in love with so much music right now, but absolutely can't stop listening to Gypsy and the Cat.

Their album Gilgamesh has got to be one of the best albums of all time there is not a single song that I'm not in love with.

Warning history alert - Interestingly Gilgamesh was the fifth king of Uruk - modern day Iran and Kuwait and was rumored to rule for over 125 years. He was considered as a Demi God and had super human strength that he used to protect his people. He has appeared in a variety of mythical texts and is rumored to be the oldest living immortal - still wandering the world today - creepy!

The album was released at the end of 2010 and has taken off like a storm - G&C supported Kylie on her down under tour and they have just finished their sellout 'Jona Vark' tour round Oz and are planing on playing at Foreshore later this year.

Check them out here http://www.gypsyandthecat.com.au/ - they have a really cool interactive page - where you can listen to all their music and add your own images to be kaleidoscoped by their magic spinning thing - very technical I know but that's the best explanation - its kinda like an alternative music screen saver.

My two favourite songs are The Piper Song and Jona Vark.

Lets hear it for Tepees

I am totally obsessed with tepees at the moment, my husband R thinks I'm crazy, but there is something magical and whimsical about tepees.

I can think of nothing better then taking an afternoon stroll on our property only to stumble across a tepee - hidden inside a lovely day bed and some books!

I originally got the idea from Honestly WTF - great blog - they created one last summer. Check out some of their pics below.

Happy Monday everyone!

These Days

I am having one of those days - not bad - but I am really appreciating what I have, where I am going and who I am going there with.

My bestie who lives a two day drive away from me often sends me random emails during the day - we dream about her wedding and talk rubbish highlighting fashion trends and celebrity gossip, while completely understanding each other and relishing in each others silly comments. We will speak once or twice a week on the phone as well - that's if i pick up, I have an annoying habit of leaving my phone on silent after work finishes then never checking it while I'm at home.

We are both loving sportsgirls new range at the moment - I am a vintage trendy hippie at heart and love mix matching all sorts of random things together, my bestie is the clean sophisticated girly type but is embracing her beach lifestyle.

Im heading to Sydney on the weekend and can't wait to try these pieces.

My little Reno

So earlier this year - my husband and I bought a fabulous 60 hectare bush block in the middle of nowhere -the place is lovely it has so much character and a great feel about it.

We plan on building out 'proper' home out here in a couple of years... but in the meantime we are building what I like to call our two room shanty. A small shack for us to hang out on weekends and during the week for a few nights, we plan on putting in a mini kitchen using a wood fired oven, that if we are lucky will also be able to heat the house and provide us with hot water for showers and washing up! There is no electricity...which should lead us on an interesting journey....

So far we have managed to put the frame up for the base - check out my pic, ready to deck it out.

We went bed shopping on the weekend and have started thinking about the interior. We are both suckers for a lovely piece of wood and being a bit of an artist I have a crazy eclectic style that I can't wait to incorporate into the house. Check out my favourite store at the moment - must start saving to get these amazing sheets!
